INTERVIEW BY BAILEY CONKLIN
United Soccer Coaches Director of Coaching Education Rob Herringer answers a few questions since starting his new role with the association .
What has been your number one priority coming into this role ?
My priority immediately after being hired was to connect with as many of our educators from across the country as possible . It was important for me to get a better understanding of where we are and where we want to go . The feedback I have received has been valuable as I settle in and formalize a plan for the future of education at United Soccer Coaches .
Another priority has been putting together a comprehensive menu of in-person advanced diploma courses for 2024 . As mentioned previously , this includes reviewing and updating the curriculum for each of these courses , which is a massive undertaking , but necessary in order to provide the best possible experiences for our members .
Finally , we have been working hard at the national office to make sure the courses we have already scheduled for the remainder of 2023 are well-organized and taught by talented educators who will deliver meaningful content for those in attendance .
Where do you hope to see the association in a year ’ s time ?
Overall , I expect to see our association continuing an upward trajectory by this time next year . I have been very impressed with our leadership team and the work that is being done by the members of our national office staff . We have many talented individuals who genuinely care about the association and work tirelessly to provide our members with the resources and support they need . The sky is the limit for us , and I am confident we have the people and programs in place to keep us moving forward .
Specifically for education , I expect to be operating at full strength by this time next year . We faced significant challenges with in-person education during and immediately following the pandemic , and we have not been offering the number of courses like we have in the past . It is a priority for us to provide timely and timeless learning opportunities that have a meaningful impact on the development of coaches across the country . herefore , in this time of transition , we need to look back on our past to understand what has been successful while also working to
