Teaching : There simply must be more and better teaching going on in training sessions . But for this to be effective , the youth coach must work to learn the subtleties of the game . This is the hard part . Should we suggest a United Soccer Coaches Youth Diploma ? Yes .
Create a positive learning environment : I believe that coaches do not make a player better . Only players can make themselves better . But the coach teaches and creates an environment that is conducive to learning . That means an environment that is motivating , challenging and fun ! If the players learn by themselves , the correct habits and techniques must be taught correctly . Teach soccer and let the athletic ability come next !
